Yoshikatsu Ikeuchi
Biography
Born in Kyoto. Influenced by his parents, he grew up familiar with classical music and began composing on his own in elementary school, influenced by his composer uncle. In junior high school, he expanded his interest to electronic music, including electro, and in high school, he released his own compositions online, beginning his full-fledged music production career. In 2014, while living in Los Angeles, he won second place in the Spin Records-sponsored online competition "Talent Pool." The following year, 2015, he achieved the number one ranking in the world, which led to his debut with an overseas label. In 2016, he composed the music for the film "Rage" together with Ryuichi Sakamoto, which won the 40th Japan Academy Prize. Since then, he has been involved in production and creation in a wide range of fields, including pop music, film scores, and television commercial music. In 2023, he was appointed as a Kyoto Prefecture Cultural Tourism Ambassador. In the same year, he was in charge of composing music for the commemorative project for the relocation of the Agency for Cultural Affairs to Kyoto.

His artistic expression also originated in his childhood. The experience of painting with his grandfather, a painter, as a New Year's tradition with his family, formed the foundation of his creative work. Starting with pencil drawings, he progressed to creating his own characters, and then to watercolors and oil paintings. He honed his skills through self-study and officially launched his art career in 2022. In 2025, he held his first solo exhibition, "MUSORY Yoshikatsu Ikeuchi Experience," at the Kyoto National Museum. Simultaneously, he collaborated with Kyoto Prefecture on a public call for submissions aimed at discovering and nurturing new musicians. His works are held in the collections of the Kyoto Prefectural Government, the Westin Miyako Hotel Kyoto, and others.

His first overseas exhibition was held at Art Central Hong Kong in March 2026. Exhibitions are planned for the fall of 2026 and the beginning of 2027 at the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art and the Kyoto City Museum of Art. He extends the delicate sensibility and compositional skills expressed in music to art, deepening his unique world of expression that transcends sound and sight.
